EX RARE & FINE 18thC VINCENNES SEVRES PLATE c1745 PRE SEVRES MOVE IN 1756, VGC An extremely rare eighteenth century Vincennes c1738-56 (moved to Sevres in 1756) soft paste porcelain plate c1745-8 (four of photos taken near a lamp to show translucency). The soft paste porcelain plate with a glassy and translucent glaze with a warm lustrous service, the plate exquisitely moulded with floral and foliate scroll moulded cartouches incorporating scroll cornucopia tied by ribbons within a sweeping leaf moulded border and framed within a honey gilt dentil rim. The plate has the interlaced L’s the cipher of Louis XV and of course has no date letter as the porcelain did not bear date codes until 1753, this plate which measures 9 5/8 inches in diameter has two incised numbers just inside the foot ring and as with Sevres a small hole in the foot ring. Condition: perfect bar a small chip and a tiny chip just inside edge of the rim ( both illustrated). This is well worthy of a place in any eighteenth century porcelain collectors reference collection. I very rarely see any Vincennes whatsoever and on the occasions I do it is hugely expensive, doubt you will find a piece for less than £100 anywhere in the world. I offer this at £98 no reserve.
