One of several small jade artifacts I am offering, this is a genuine Hongshan Culture artifact that was purchased from 8 to 10 years ago in a market that was quite different from todays market. I can understand resistance to small archaic jades since the market is currently flooded with all manner of fakes and reproductions, but I assure you, these are genuine Hongshan carvings. This incredible jade artifact is about 5,000 years old. It was carved by an artisan of the Hongshan Culture. These people lived in the region that is today Inner Mongolia and the Liaoning Provence of China about 4,500 - 2,200 BC, when this region was a temperate rain forest. No other culture has left a more thorough record of their culture in jade. Their history is literally written in jade. It staggers the mind to study Hongshan jades and realize that these stone age people were so adept at carving skills and so highly imaginative in their art carvings. This excellent embryo dragon is one of the best of its type that I have seen. It is in fantastic condition. It measures about 2-1/8 x 1-3/4 x 3/4 inches.
