This is one very hefty sword . It is a Saxon Fusiliers sword Model 1845.This sword is documented in the Book " SWORD AND DAGGERS AN ILLUSTRATED HANDBOOK " by Eduard Wagner page 237. The hilt is solid cast brass The reverse crossguard has the regiments and soldiers issue number " 104 R.1.15. " The robust blade is straight with no fullers . It is excellent condition . The reverse ricasso has a crown stamp for the King of Saxony . It is complete with it's black leather scabbard with two brass mounts ,the locket and the chape. The reverse of the locket is also stamped " 105 R . 11 .232. " . I think the steel screw is a replacement. The black leather is in great antique condition with surface " crazing " from age but very solid. The overall length is 24 " with a 18 1/2" blade.
