Excellent MARGOT DE TAXCO sterling silver champleve enameled donkey pin. Has no damage to enamel. Looks like new with minor patina on back. Ready to wear or gift.Margot van Voorhies Carr is known as "Margot de Taxco". She is one of the great Mexican jewelry designers of the mid-20th century. She moved to Mexico in 1937 and married Antonio Castillo who was working for William Spartling. When Antonio was still working for Spartling, he produced and sold jewelry designed by Margot. It sold so well, Antonio, Margot and his brothers and cousins established "Los Castillo" in 1939. Margot was the principal designer.Margot divorced Antonio and opened "Margot de Taxco" in 1948. Margot designed every thing that her company produced. There was a book of instructions and drawings for each piece of jewelry detailing their construction and finishing. Margot is best known for her champleve enameled works like this pin.
