This auction is for a unique and exquisite 42" vintage custom made necklace with alternating old Chinese hand made jade and painted porcelain beads. The 46 jade beads were acquired from an early 20th century Chinese jade necklace. The 43 painted porcelain beads were acquired from an early 20th century Chinese porcelain necklace. All 46 jade beads tested as "jadeite" using a Presidium Gem Tester (which is non-invasive).I purchased both old Chinese necklaces about 35 years ago in California. The well matched jade beads are very beautiful and high quality. The painting on the porcelain beads is intricate and beautifully crafted. The two old necklaces were part of a collection from three generations of antique dealers specializing in Asian art & antiques. They rarely sold any pieces of their personal collection until I was able to purchase quite a few pieces.I had the old jade & porcelain beads restrung on a necklace separated with knotted green silk thread by a jeweler specializing in antique jewelry. There is no clasp. The heavy 42" necklace slips around the neck and is worn as a single strand. The beads are secure on the necklace and hang nicely around the neck.
