Antique French Normandy Lace Bedspread This exceptional antique French Normandy lace bedspread dates from the 1920s. It is made of a patchwork of cream colored off white net, raised padded satin stitch embroidered drawn work batiste medallions, and Valencienne lace inserts. T are several batiste medallions in the center surrounded by embroidered net elaborate flower basket inserts. This lovely lace bedspread bed cover is all hand stitched, and is a kind of sampler of a variety of lace techniques created into a work of art. The bedspread has a built in pillow sham sewn along the top, with sheer net draping side ruffle scalloped lace edges, and floral, round, diamond shaped batiste inserts throughout. This beautiful bedspread is a twin size measuring 72 inches long, 36 inches wide, with an additional 15 inch long ruffle on each side. It is in excellent useable condition, with only a few faint small age spots which are difficult to see. This is a rare and wonderful piece of antique lace textile art!
