Faeroe Islands (Faerø Amt) P-1c, 5 Kroner 1940 WWII Provisional Issue, gF (good Fine) condition . Th is note is completely original and has never been washed, repaired, or altered in any way . Like most examples of this issue, i t has s een enough circulation to show significant signs of wear in the form of sharp creases and some dirt. However, it is sound, without any holes, tears, splits , or other faults , and it still has square corners and some crispness remaining in the paper. Before the start of WWII, Danish currency was used in Faeroe Islands. However, the German blockade of shipping lanes prevented shipments of most goods from Denmark and elsewhere upon which the Islands dep ended . A s hortage of new banknotes needed for everyday commerce and concerns about possible German manipulation of the economy with confiscated Danish currency made it necessary to overprint the available supply of Danish banknotes, much of which was already in circulation, for exclusive use in the Islands. A n interesting , presentable note that will make a greataddition to any banknote collection. Very rare; seldom offered in any condition. Grading is largely subjective.
