I think these are called Fairings because they were given away in Fairs, long ago, in England. T is a sticker on the inside that says: Fairing, sold at country fairs, 19th century. I am not sure if this was made in England or Germany. T is a mark on the underside of the lid which I have shown. This little trinket box appears to be in great condition. T is a beak chipped on the base but I think this may have happened during manufacture as the area is glazed. It has a couple of age lines and the mirror has lost some of its paint, reflection. The mirror is scotch taped in place. The child appears to be eating something and the rooster is most interested in it. The base has two winged animals? (birds with a lion body) on each side. This is a great fairing to add to your collection.
