For auction is a bound set of cricket magazines entitled: Famous Cricketers and Cricket Grounds 1895 edited by C Walcock and published by Hudson & Kearns in conjunction with the News of the World.This bound volume is a superb reference of cricketers from a golden age and is a magnificent collection of portraits of the major players of the turn of the 20th century, also of some of the main grounds and teams. Photographs by Hawkins of Brighton. Together with Fry's The Book of Cricket, this volume provides a wonderful snapshot of the game and its players around the end of the 19th century. Originally published by the News of the World in 18 weekly instalments. Folio. [292]pp. Profusely illustrated with full-page portrait plates accompanied by descriptive text beneath. Complete with title-page and index.The spine of the binding has unfortunately come adrift but the folios are in super condition as they have been protected by the cover. A great opportunity to own a rare and collectible reference book.
