You are bidding on a beautiful Fenton Dorothy Taylor Encore Green Opalescent Lion Glass Mini Basket. It measures approximately 4 3/4" tall and 4 3/4" across. It is a beautiful green opalescent glass. On the bottom of the 1 1/2" base it says, "ENCORE FENTON 1985 K C MO" and just above the base it says "TAYLOR". It has four lions around the inside of the bowl of the basket . This basket is in mint condition. We bought quite a few baskets from the estate of a former antique dealer who had all of these stored in boxes in her home. In one of the recent Fenton books I found some information on these baskets. It said "In 1978 Dorothy Taylor held the first Encore convention in Kansas. She decided that a miniature basket in Fenton's animal patterns would be a perfect souvenir for Encore, so she asked Westmoreland, and later Imperial Glass, to make the basket for her. Neither of these companies were able to produce it, so the mould was taken to Fenton, w many baskets were made for her". It also says these mini baskets were used as a convention souvenir. It is marked 'Encore, 1985, KC MO'. The mold belonged to Dorothy". It also says, "The miniature kittens basket (which was the first one) was so successful that a series of baskets were made, using different plungers in order to add new designs to the interiors of the pieces".
