Up for Auction: Very Rare 7 Piece Water Set Pitcher #8964 Tumblers #8940 TURQUOISE, IRIDIZED HANGING HEARTS by ROBERT BARBER 1976 note: it was very difficult to take pictures of this set. The colors depicted are off. The picture showing the base of the pitcher shows very accurate color. This color is consistant throughout the entire set. Of all the Fenton I own, this set is the very best of the best. In Fenton Glass Compendium, 1970 to 1985, by John Walk, Mr. Walk writes: "The off hand ware was limited in number and sold with a certificate to verify the amount made in that color and the piece. The Hanging Heart series, though not limited in prodution, was not issued for long, and all are quite scarce and collectible." This water set is NOT an off hand set, thus the ware numbers. So, although this set is indeed very scarce, it is not an off hand set and tfor does not come with a certificate. Every piece in this set has the original fenton sticker. T are no chips, flakes or flea bites to be found. Even the bottoms of these pieces have no surface scratching at all. The water pitcher measures 11 3/8" tall, the tumblers are well matched and are all 4 15/16 tall. Each piece in this set has the official Fenton logo insized into the bottom. This package weighs 11 pounds 6 ounces and measures 19.5"x18"x13" and, because it measures more than a square foot(new postal regulations), will be charged a higher rate. A recent ebay auction sold this same water set with 4 (not 6) tumblers. The auction closed at $1,495.00 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR AUCTIONS. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. T are two reasons for this charge; #1. packaging: When your purchase glass from me you are purchasing superior quality items. To protect your glass I first wrap it in protective material and place it in a box. The box is then stuffed with additional material to help keep the glass from moving around during transport. I then seal the box and place it in a larger box with additional material wrapped around the first box to offer maxium protection. This process adds weight and materials to the postage you are paying. One of my recent customers fell on his box when he slipped on some ice on his front porch. He told me that the item was so well packed that it didn't break. Amazing, considering how delicate and breakable glass gets in the cold weather. The only exception to this packaging process is when I have the original Fenton shipping box available. As of now I have a few Fenton boxes for lamps. Reason 2 for the handling fee is that I live in a very remote area. Not only am I a 30 mile round trip to the post office, but the postal service will not come down my very long driveway. I'm sure you don't want me to leave your purchase next to my mailbox buy the road for anyone to pick up!! So, I have to drive the 30 miles to safely deliver your package, in person to the post office. Thanks for your understanding. METHOD OF PAYMENT: PAYPAL and United States Postal Money orders. No other money orders will be accepted. The highest dollar amount money order the Post Office will issue is $1,000.
