Well remembered as the first netminder to regularly don facial protection, Jacques Plante was instrumental in establishing head gear for goaltenders, perfecting models that would be used for years to come. This caramel colored "pretzel" mask, manufactured by Plante's Fibrosport company in Magog Quebec, was the first model made by the manufacturer, and it measure's approx 6 3⁄4" x 9 1⁄2" across the reverse. The strapping appears original, with a serial number that's hard to decipher impressed into the back of the nose section. Heavy wear is present on the adult-sized mask, with a number of cracks visible throughout, along with salting/oxidation to the metal strap clasps.
