A nice working example of the Fidelity "Coronet Transistor Six" pocket radio, which dates from 1961. This was the first British made transistor radio to go on sale for under £10 including Purchase Tax (which would be around £190 in today's money!). No damage to the cabinet apart from one neatly repaired chip to lower corner of the white plastic back. It has the usual surface marking to the "gold" plated grille, which is caused by the tight-fitting plastic carrying case (included, but not shown in the pictures). The tuning and volume controls are of unusual design. recessed into the front of the cabinet and operated by pressing a finger on them. The contemporary test report in "Which" magazine did not rate this feature highly! The radio has all its original components apart from the battery connector lead, which had to be replaced. It works well, but as stated the tuning is a bit tricky.
