The flutes are made of rare bans / bamboo. It is called bansuri in Nepal & India. Flutes are used in folk songs, classical songs, devotional songs and bhajans. It is a traditional music instrument of Nepal & India . It is mentioned in Vedas and is depicted in the Buddhist art of 2000 years ago. It is a favourite instrument of Lord Krishna. He was the hero of the Mahabharat. He is usually portrayed playing flute with his consort Radha dancing, or surrounded with milkmaids (gopinis). The Hindu deity Lord Krishna is often pictured as a shepherd who plays the flute and it is often associated with magical or seductive powers. In addition the Bansuri enjoys a distinguished place in the history of Nepalese and Indian music and mythology. Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia is an Indian Flutist who played an important role to introduce flute and promote Indian Classical Music in world-wide. Most of the flutists are influenced by him and he is famous in India and all over the world. Most of the flutists are influenced by them and they are famous in Nepal and all over the world. The flutes are accuratly tuned with Harmonium A 440 Hz scale & Chromatic Tuner A 440 Hz scale. The flute has a range of approximately three octaves. Each flute is tuned separetly. A lot of time is needed for each flute, to obtain professional quality flutes. Flutes are available in diffrent sizes and diffrent scale. It has one blowing hole and six fingering holes. Blowing side of flute is closed by a piece of rubber which helps and controls the pressure of blow & sounds came out. The frist three upper holes closed from blowing side is 'C' or 'Sa' note. Different kinds of flutes are used in different types of songs as per as different scales. In classical music the Professional flutists are use bass-flutes and most of the time they use ‘E' scaled bass-flutes in classical music concerts.
