Up for bids is a nice and very decorative Cascade lamp base by the Fostoria Glass Co. circa 1890's. A photograph of the complete oil lamp can be seen on page 14 of Leslie Pina's "Fostoria: Serving the American Table 1887-1986." The lamp base was originally part of an oil lamp but it has neither the top oil reservoir nor the burner. Someone has previously installed a nipple in the top so that it was probably electrified. The base stands 15" tall and the diameter of the base is 7". As one of the pics shows the top ball has a crack in it but I don't think it would show with a bulb and shade on it. The Cascade pattern was later reintroduced by Fostoria as Colony. T is no reserve.
