The offering is a hard to find, used, postmarked October 1, 1910, color, divided back, postcard, showing "Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Va. . . . Showing City Hall And St. George's Church." Although not listed in the postcard caption, but prominently seen in the left half of the postcard image is the Bradford Building--Fredericksburg's first "skyscraper"--located at the intersection of Princess Anne and William Streets. T he Bradford Building was built in 1902 and at various times housed a law office, Planters National Bank, a gymnasium and a restaurant. The Mayflower Restaurant on the bottom floor was the cause of the building's demise in 1963 when a coffee urn left on overnight started a fire. A rose garden now occupies the site which is next to the Fredericksburg Area Museum--the former City Hall. The sender comments on the reverse side that, "I went to the fair at Fredericksburg Wednesday and had a nice time." The postcard shows small creases in the upper left and right corners, additional larger light creasing in the upper left corner area, and wear at the corner tips. The postcard is cosidered to be otherwise in good to very good condition and will make an excellent addition to one's Fredericksburg, VA collection.
