Gilt metal. boxed Approximate size 1.6ins Sculpture Alfred BORREL (1836-1927), French sculptor and medallist. He studied under his father Valentin-Maurice Borrel, Jouffroy and Merley. He obtained the Premier Deuxième Grand Prix de Rome de gravure en médailles in 1860 (won that year by Lagrange). Médaille de troisième classe du Salon des Artistes Français in 1880, seconde class at the 1890 salon and premiere classe at the 1893 salon. Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1906.
