Excellent condition and guaranteed original French Mle 1866 Chassepot bayonet that is complete with matching numbered scabbard. Bayonet has Chatellerault Arsenal markings on the blade spine and dated 1871. Blade has beautiful original bright finish and was never sharpened. No nicks or dings. Guard has original bright finish with a little gray and brown. Brass grip has nice mellow patina. Lock button and leaf spring function fine. Matching numbered steel scabbard has excellent original blue metal finish and a few minor dings, no major dents. A really nice Chassepot bayonet with matching numbers!
