I am delighted to offer this wonderful either late 19th Century or early 20th Century likely French ( though possibly Italian / Murano) black opaline glass tall hinged casket caddy or jewel box. The box is set in gilt brass or bronze ormolu mounts.Nice warm patina to the metal. The mounts have an intricate repeating pattern to them. The box closes well, and the hinge is good and tight, but t is some left to right "play", however, the box still closes flush. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs, with only light scratching on the base panel. The box is approx. 4 inches high, and 2 1/2 inches wide. This is a wonderful box to add to your fine French , Baccarat, and Opaline casket collection. I love how these tall boxes add architectural interest to a grouping. These boxes are becoming increasingly hard to find! Works well in both contemporary interiors, and with traditional decor as well. Don't miss it! Reasonably reserved.
