In brown/grey speckled pictorial cloth covers with red lettering to spine and front. Black endpapers. 293pp; Cat. 24pp; 12 b/w plates and title vignette by A. THORNBURN & J.STUART-WORTLEY. In very good condition. Spine slightly darkened and rubbed at ends with small marks. Handling marks to covers. Corners slightly bumped. Mild foxing to edges. Owner’s bookplate to front endpaper. Owner’s inscription to first blank page, dated 1894. Foxing spots throughout. Else a clean and tight copy. Fur, Feather & Fin Series. A volume in the "Fur and Feather Series" which presented monographs on the various English birds and beasts which were generally included under the heading of Game. It includes details of the natural history of the grouse, information on driving and shooting, together with ideas for its eventual cooking.
