This auction is for a super 19th century stoneware beehive advertising jug in mint condition. Nicely marked in cobalt: Walsh Bros. / 97 Seneca. St. / Buffalo / N.Y. No pottery mark. Walsh Bros (John & Andrew) were liquor dealers and are listed in the 1884 Buffalo City Directory, however at a different address. This jug is probably earlier than that. No cracks or chips, just a 'kiln kiss:” an area w another item was touching it during the firing prohibiting the salt glaze to cover that spot.
