Eight-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "A.P. DONAGHHO / Parkersburg, W.V.," circa 1885, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring A.P. Donaghho maker's stenciling between stenciled bands of geometric designs. Stenciled 8 below within a geometric border. Two sealed Y-shaped cracks in underside, one of which extends several inches up reverse. Thin cracks and crazing to base area, extending partway up body of jar, where they become thinner. Short surface cracks to shoulder on front. Tight surface lines to shoulder on reverse. H 18 1/2".
