For your consideration is a three gallon stoneware butter churn that was manufactured by The Buckeye Pottery Co. of Macomb, Illinois. This co. was founded in 1882 by Washington Pech and sold itself to Haeger Potteries, Inc. in 1941. The glaze indicates this churn was not manufactured before 1895 and by the early 1920s, mechanical churns had made churns that used a dasher obsolete. It has a height of almost 13 1/2". The bottom has a diameter of 8 3/4" and it uses a lid with a diameter between 7 3/8" and 7 5/8". This churn is an old item that was used. It has minor (perhaps insignificant) chips and minor cracks. Send me a message and I will be glad to send you more pictures. The blemish between the 3 & the leaves is a manufacturing defect, caused by the clay not being dry enough when the churn was fired in the kiln; this defect is not visible in the interior. The lid and dasher are missing. Only the letters THE BUC are visible (to me) on the bottom mark. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.
