Lot includes a 7.5" x 9.25" silver print photograph of DeJean wearing GAR coat with medals, and photo copies of pages from a book entitled South Dakota Historical Collections Illustrated Volume XVI Part 1 1939, Pierre, S.D., Hipple Printing Co. with page 79 having highlighted section reading During the closing moments of this encampment Past Commander Phil Lawrence on behalf of the comrades, presented Commander DeJean with a beautiful Waltham watch as a token of their regard for him.Thomas Cyrenus DeJean enlisted as a corporal in Co. H, 155th OVI, severely wounded at Chancellorsville and had his left leg amputated. The 155th OVI was in the battles of Second Bull Run, at Chancellorsville the unit lost 153 men KIA, wounded and missing with our boy being one of the wounded, lost about 50 men at Gettysburg, then sent to Tennessee and engaged at Missionary Ridge, and participated in all the battle in which the 20th Corps was engaged with last battle being at Bentonville where they lost 33 men.
