Description: Antique 19C George Jones & Sons LTD, Stoke on Trent Staffordshire England, Majolica art pottery oval dish plate. The gorgeous decor features desirable pink background, a centered green palm leaf & is bordered by a ring of grape vine leaf. The plate has a GJ hallmark in relief on the back which should date the piece to 1861-1873, is numbered 2544, & has one other impressed mark. The plate measures approximately 8 3/4 inches by 7 inches wide, 1 1/8 inches tall when flat & weighs 13.8 oz. The dish is in good antique estate condition as follows; I HAVE EXAMINED THE PIECE UNDER A BLACK LIGHT. THERE IS SOME CRAZING, MAINLY TO THE BACK. THERE ARE A FEW OF WHAT APPEAR TO BE BLACK FIRING SPOTS ON THE PALM LEAF. THERE ARE A FEW LIGHT SCRATCHES ON THE BACK, A SMALL WHITE SPOT ALONG THE BOTTOM RIM THAT APPEARS MORE AS IF THE GLAZE DID NOT TAKE, BUT COULD BE A FLEABITE, SOME RUB WEAR TO THE GLAZED STOKE ON KENT IN RELIEF HALLMARK, WHICH WOULD BE THE ONLY CHIPPING. WEAR IS CONSISTENT WITH THE AGE OF THE PIECE & NORMAL USAGE. NO CRACKS OR REPAIRS. THERE IS GLARE & REFLECTION IN SOME OF THE 12 PHOTOS. PRIOR TO BIDDING please read this description, view all photos, ask any questions you may have, & make sure your pay pal address is correct, & good luck on this Pinehurst estate find! Please look for other interesting items in the days read more
