Hindenburg Set You are bidding on a replication of a star of the Grand Cross 1914 known better than "Hindenburgstern" and a Grandcross of the Iron Cross 1914. The set consists: Hindenburgstar Grand Cross of the iron cross foundation date 1914 Jump ring Decoration ribbon (approx. 26 cm) The Grand Cross of the iron cross was awarded only 5 times in the 1st World War. Paul von Hindenburg got, like Bluecher before, a special layer of the Grand Cross, the so-called "Hindenburgstern". The Grand Cross was the highest German war medal. A crown is on the front of the iron cross on the upper cross arm. I n the middle t he "W" for Wilhelm II. and under this the foundation date 1914. On the back a crown is on the upper cross arm and the initials "FW" Friedrich Wilhelm III. in the middle finds an oak leaves the first foundation date 1813 in the lower cross arm.
