This is a 100% original German M35 helmet . The helmet was made at the Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke AG factory, in the city of Schwerte , the NS and batch number stamp are still nicely visible. This factory was contracted to make M35 helmets from 1937 to March of 1940 when the model was changed. This particular helmet has been painstakingly restored to look like a helmet worn by a member of the famed Afrika Korps. The helmet was first painted a dark apple green, (match to an original sample from this factory) then 2 museum quality army decals were applied to the paint. The decals have been heavily aged as can be seen in the photo. They appear battle worn and smoke damaged. The helmet was then over sprayed with a tropical yellowish tan paint. This paint is an exact match to an original DAK helmet. The paint has also been heavily aged. In several placed it is chipped exposing the early war apple green paint base coat. The helmet skirt has also been sprayed with tropical tan paint; this is a feature that was commonly seen on DAK helmets compleatly correct from the battle of EL Alamein to "Tunisgrad". The apple green paint can still be seen on the inside dome. T is also a nice crisp 1938 inspector ink stamp. The liner is the standard M31 steel zinc plated helmet liner. This liner is a very good European made reproduction and has read more
