Title : Nouvelle Carte Geographique des Postes D'Allemagne Author : Homann Edition : 0.00 Condition : Good Publisher : Homann Heirs Location : Nuremburg Binding : none Pages : 17 Description: Map of German postal routes, done for Herrn Carl Anselm, Furst von Thurn und Taxis, and holder of the postal monopoly for greater Europe. Rare map in 16 parts showing the routes of the post coaches and stop-offs for all of greater Germany. Nicely engraved, excellent impression. Also includes a 17th page, an 'overview' map of the territory covered. Some faults, with a few sheets weak or separating along fold, page nine with hole just above bottom margin, sheet ten trimmed at the top, and the overview sheet with a thin area and hole to a blank portion of the map (no loss). As you can see from the detailed scans, overall condition is good, and a superb map for those interested in the history of the post, as well as the cartography of the era. Each sheet image is about 24x20cm. Each sheet (with margins)is 26.5x22cm, giving an assembled map size of ca 106x88cm. Would be quite striking matted and framed.
