The Willys Jeep vehicle was one of the most important land vehicles of World War II. Its all-terrain capability made the Jeep vehicle ideal for every battlefield of the war. They even proved to be excellent additions to motorized cavalry units when mounted with machine guns. Jeep vehicles fought on the front lines, and transported soldiers and supplies across terrain even tanks could not tackle. Jeep vehicles in the United States Navy were painted blue-gray, the same color as aircraft, and were typically marked only with the registration number. The Navy Shore Patrol used Jeep vehicles to perform their duties as the law enforcement and guard units for the United States Navy. As Military Police, the Shore Partol is responsible for safeguarding military personnel and property and helping to maintain discipline by the enforcement of laws, orders and regulations.
