Here is a beautiful 1954 Gibson "Mastertone" TB-250 four-string tenor banjo, serial #4-2462-16 with original case and accessories. This was a family-owned instrument that was played at many a music festival and is being sold from estate along with several other instruments that were in the collection (to be listed separately). The banjo is in excellent but used condition, with the only flaw being wear on the back of the resonator (see picture). It has been amplified with an add-on pickup that mounts inside on the rod and the controls held on to the body by elastic hooks, thus there is no modification to the instrument itself. It has sound that will "take your ears off" as the former owner used to say. The tuning pegs were replaced when the old knobs started to disintegrate (see picture showing former mounting holes). This is an excellent TB-250 to be played or added to a collection. The neck is original to the body, and would make an excellent conversion piece to a five-string instrument. The case comes with the instrument and is the original, pink-lined Gibson case in excellent condition (pictures on request). There is a large assortment of replacement strings made by Gibson and Martin, a capo, two extra bridges and a cable for the pick-up included.
