Here for sale is a Vintage Gibson RD standard bass in ebony black, very rare less than 900 every made. It dates from around 1978. Incredible tone, all original and in good condition. Lots of play wear on the back of the neck (sign of a good bass) and dings here and there, but all add it to it's character and vintage mojo. Bass suffered a neck break a few years back but was lovingly restored by top guitar luthier John Vickers at Vintage strings Cheltenham, who has worked wonders on many guitars and basses over the years including a custom job for Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The neck repair is top notch with only a slight raised area where the neck join was made and reinforced. Doesn't affect play, still a beautiful bass with an incredible sound.These basses were most famously played by Krist Novoselic of Nirvana. Gibson reissued the RD standard bass a few years back, but this is the original it was based on. The reissue doesn't have the original RD pick ups but this is the same one and pick ups that he used for bass Nirvana!
