GLASS PHOTO NEGATIVERAILROAD TRAIN STATION HARWICH, MA »»» 5 x 7 Dry Plate ««« This is a vintage antique 5x7 Black & White Glass Dry Plate Negative that was taken in August 1897. The original storage envelope identifies the scene as the RR Station in Harwich, MA on Cape Cod. In the foreground t are wheel tracks made by the horse-drawn buggies that brought passengers to the train. You can see two buggies parked under the roof of the open garage building at the center, next to the station. One man stands at the left corner of the station building, and two more are by the tracks, to the right of the garage. You can tell the path the railroad tracks follow by w the utility poles and signal are located. The edges of the gelatin show some raggedness and t's also clouding and other signs of age, but overall the negative is in very good condition. No attempt has been made to clean this antique due to its fragility. You can see that the envelope is also quite aged and deteriorating. The top photo in this auction shows the negative and the image beneath shows what a positive looks like if a print were made. The plate would also look great hanging in a window so the light shines through to reveal the scene. You will receive ONE 5x7 glass plate negative as shown. You will also receive the pictured envelope. Email me with any questions read more
