The Hair Part 8" NGS Artman Club 1986 Photo Book Portfolio "NGS VIP Members Club Galphy Series: The Hair, Part 8." Japan: Nippon Geijutsu Shuppan, 1986, First Edition, HB, Slipcase, 16 x 12 inches, 24 large glossy color prints. NGS Artman Club publications were available by subscription only - not in bookstores - this allowed NGS to circumvent Japanese censorship standards. In Japan, "Hair" - in the English pronunciation - is synonymous with a specific type of hair photographs of which were censored in Japan before the 1990's. Typical of the care given to the presentation of photobooks in Japan, the photos in the NGS "Hair" series are thoughtfully ordered, generally progressing from images of beauties in nature to the intimate, close-up and abstract. The Japanese photographer contributors will be familiar to collectors of the NGS Sha Girls Annuals: Toshiro KARIYA (2 plates); Yoshimori FUJIWARA (1 plate); Shin KAMIMURA (2 plates); Yutaka SHIDA (4 plates); Masao YATO (2 plates); Sakae OUCHI (7 plates); Eiichi KUBOTA (3 plates); Motohisa FUJITA (2 plates); Shouji SUGIYAMA (1 plate). Fewer prints than usual but the prints are of a larger size and higher quality. This is the only issue of the "Hair" series that I have seen in this format - same size and format as the NGS "HQ" series of portfolios. Condition: Very Good, in the original
