HAMILTON H-37500 WWII, AN5741-l, MILITARY 5 ORBITAIRCRAFT CLOCKVintage fully functioning, WWII Military Hamilton 37500 Chronograph Aircraft Cockpit Clock with 24hr dial, model AN5741-l. Movement is an 8-day 16 jewel mechanical wind with a 2 7/8” dial. Case is 3.25” diameter and made of black Bakelite. The dial is set to 24:00 hour or military time. The back of the case is labeled H 37500, Contract # 96322, Serial Number 024116 (first digit is partially obscured, could be a 6).The 37500 is one of the most complicated clocks produced for use in aircraft. It has functions for displaying 24-hour time, running seconds, length of trip (12 hour), 60-minute center seconds chronograph and Civil Date. It has a large 2 3/4 inch dial opening. Its production was also complicated with the contract split between Hamilton and Elgin watch companies. This specialized clock was designed for the US Navy for use in the F-4U Corsair as well as several other platforms. Although these clocks went on the corsair aircraft used by the US Navy. Some of the more famous Aircraft were the F-4U Corsair and the F-6 Hellcat but the 37500 was found in many Naval Aircraft.This clock runs but it could us some cleaning of its insides.
