This auction is for a handmade leather dress. This is in no way an old authentic garment. As far as I know, it was made in the early 80's. All I know about it is that it was given to me in the early 80's, and the gentleman that gave it to me said that he had it made from an elk hide that he had had tanned and that it was made by a man that he knew that lived in Utah. T is a branding on the inside of the dress, that I was told was this makers mark. Check out the pictures. I have worn this dress a time or too, but it is still in excellent condition. The only marks on it are the natural imperfections in the leather and through the tanning process. It does have a couple of very small holes in the top, but once again it is from the tanning or the skinning process. It was definately smoke tanned, as it still has that odor. It has never been in a smoking home or environment, so the odor is from the tanning process and the natural smell of the leather. The buttons on the front flap are from either a deer or small elk antler. The decoration hanging off the back, is made from horse hair, and is removable...it is just tied on with one of the fringe strings. I would say that the size would probably be about a Misses size 12. Like I said, I wore it a couple times, but am no longer a size 12!! Would be great for an idividual that participates read more
