Last time this item is going to be listed! ONE OF A KIND! A Must Have! Great for Buck Skinners , Rendezvous and Re-enactment! Or Just for plain FUN This one of a kind Elk Hide dress suede side out was hand crafted and hand sewn by me starting Oct 2004 and was still working it the morning of May 05 2005 when most of theses pictures were taken. This dress is decorated with four foot long fringe that was hand cut and twisted at the arms and four inch fringe at the base. Quill work on the front of the neck line and all around the base of the dress. T are tin cones dangleing from the front and back of the dress. T is hair on red wool along the full length of the arms. Quill work is what was done long before beads were introduced to Native Americans by settlers and Fur Trappers. The porkey pine has long sharp quills which were died and flattened and sewn on leather with sinew. The traditional way is not to go all the way into the leather but only part way...t are no stitches to be seen on the other side. This was done to prolong the work done by the quill worker since sweat and oil from the skin would rot the stitches. Quill working is a long time honord tradition and is almost a lost art.
