This is a handforged knife blade "blank" for the knifemaker who wants the advantages of a forged blade, but wants to do the rest of the work him/herself. The blade is annealed and ready for final grinding, sanding/polishing and heat treating. The blade is 99% hammer finished with all the normal witnesses to the forging process.......a few hammer marks, scale, ect. This blank has a "hidden tang" handle section that is 4-3/4" long & a blade that measures (in the rough) at approximately 6-7/16" long X 1-1/4" wide. There is a gentle distal taper from the handle to the tip. 3/16", 1095 flat stock from Admiral steel was used for this blade and after forging it is 1/8" thick at the thickest area of the spine. The tang is stamped with my touchmark..........a heart with a "W" in it. I will finish the blade and heat treat for $35.00 extra, if the buyer so desires. This finish will be my usual "backwoods" finish normally seen on my knives. The handle area will be annealed for ease in drilling pin holes. USA ONLY! NOTICE - We are in the process of making a "knife making" video that should be available sometime this summer, hopefully by August 1. In this video I will handforge a backwoods knife from a file..........from start to finish. The DVD will be 2-3 hours long.
