This is a lightly used pair of handmade double mounted spurs made by Larry Turner. Larry is a long time bit and spur maker from Stratford, Texas and is one of the spur makers invited to participate in the Texas Style Bit and Spur Makers Association Woman's Protective Services auction along with other top makers. His spurs are sought after by cowboys and collectors alike. The spurs are marked Turner and the number 172 on the outside of the heel bands under the offside hanger. The spurs are steel and are just beginning to rust. They are mounted with twenty two pieces of nickel silver and twelve pieces of copper. The outside bands are mounted with copper circles and nickel silver in the shape of a diamond on either side of the circle and the offside bands are mounted with a nickel silver and copper bars. The rowels do not have any play in them and they spin freely. There are minor marks on the mountings from use. This would make a great pair of using spurs or a nice pair to add to a collection.
