This beautiful piece of art , handpainted on what looks like a piece of burlap-like fabric and attached to a piece of wood. The face appears to be the "Mother of Sorrow ", but not sure. T is no signature or description. The item belonged to my mother who purchased the art on a trip to South America. She was a dealer and collector of antiques. She had a passion for very old religious art. This item is very old, not sure of exactly how old...but if you study the piece, you see the age and beauty in the detailing of the face. The fabric the painting is done on was attached to the wood with nails on each corner. The piece measures 9 3/4 x 8 1/2. It is 1/4 inch thick. T is a small hole at the top that was used for hanging. T is very normal aging. A worn area above one eye, no wood splits on the front. T is a slight split in the wood on the back, but it doesn't effect the sturdiness of the wood. It is a beautful piece, a priceless design of love and passion for the sorrow of the time. Offered with No Reserve . Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry about the glare on the pictures. I took several so you could get the details of the picture.
