According to Narazaki: Miyajima Shrine was commisioned by the Tourist bureau of the Japanese railway ministry for a calender in 1935.10,000 images where printed from the same blocks. Yet Sadley Very Few Exist today. This Print is Very Rare now. Kawase Hasui studied Ukiyo-e and Japanese print making under at the studio of Kaburagi Kiyok. He mainly concentrated on making watercolors of actors,landscapes and everyday life. In the West Kawase Hasui was widely known as a Japanese woodblock printer .During the forty years of his career he made and printed over 600 prints.Hasui worked closely with Watanabe Shozaburo publisher and advocate of the Shin Hanga movement.His works became widely known in the Westthrough American collecter Robert Muller ( 1911 - 2003 ) In 1956 Hasui was named Living National Treasure in Japan.
