. Up For Sale Is This HERALDICART MEDAL, It is the first of the "Occasional Pieces" in Bob MacNamara's classic So Called Half Dollar series. Why buy raw when you can obtain it certified and know it has not been cleaned, altered or dipped. This Dag Hammarskjold medal is graded and encapsulated by NGC as an MS-67. It is blast white with pristine surfaces. It has a medal turn. This was issued in 1961 to commemorate the death, some say murder, of United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold. Hammarskjold air plane crashed in what was then the Belgian Congo. The Soviet's wanted him replaced with a more easy to control Secretary General. There is still much mystery and suspicion on his death. The scarcity of this Occasional Pieces, the declared mintage's were in the 5,000 range and experts agree there were never that many made. The melt offs of the late 1970's and today have reduced the numbers available to fewer than 1,200.
