This NO RESERVE AUCTION features a VINTAGE HIBBARD SPENCER BARTLETT OVB HAWKBILL PRUNING KNIFE in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION! This antique knife has been used and sharpened over the years and remains in nice solid shape. Knife measures 4 inches long closed with grooved steel bolsters, steel pins and liners. B lade is tight and functions smoothly with excellent snap and half stop. It has, unfortunately, been sharpened improperly by someone using a mechanical device although its a fairly neat job. Front blade tang is stamped in fancy letters: OVB and back tang stamped HIBBARD / SPENCER / BARTLETT / & CO in four lines. This firm, founded in 1855, did business in the hardware trade. A very large wholesale and retail firm, they used many different trademarks on their cutlery. OVB was one of the most popular and designated a top quality product.
