Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock by Hiroaki, Shotei (1871-1945). This woodblock print is circa 1930 and is signed. It's title is "Imado In Rain". It is an original not a fake. The image size is approx 7 inches by 4.5 inches. The artist represents the Meiji Period. He used the name Shotei from 1907 until 1922. T was a terrible fire that destroyed over 500 of his original woodblocks after the 1923 Earthquake. From 1923 on he used the name Hiroaki or Komei..As you can see by the frame, we have had this since the 1930's. The colours are still quite good..The artist arrived in Hiroshima in August of 1945 to visit his daughter. A few days later the Atomic Bomb was dropped on Hiroshima....Please see my other items for sale, as I do have one well framed Ukiyo-e's done by The Kyoto Handicraft Center. One of the artists is Sadanobu Hasegawa.
