THE HISTORY OF THE 14th ARMORED DIVISION, by Captain Joseph Carter, c1945The History of the 14th Armored Division, by Captain Joseph Carter. Published by Albert Love Enterprises {1945}. This copy belonged to Thomas J. Keane, rank MR., 1st Platoon Company A, 48th Tank, with his name written in ink on the ownership page. Keane lived in Seattle following the War. The 14th Armored was under the command of Brig. Gen. Albert C. Smith and activated November 1943; it sustained almost 2500 casualties and captured more than 64,000 prisoners. The 14th also liberated Dachau and several other concentration camps. Profusely illustrated from photographs and with maps. Contains lengthy rosters at the back -- a list of men receiving awards, those killed in action, wounded and missing, and a complete roster of the division. Maps on endpapers. Laid in is a copy of The Liberator, an official publication of the 14th, dated Fall 1985. About 300 pages. Excellent condition, tight and solid.
