HO Roco Deutsche Reichsbahn [Class 17] 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive (Eras I, II, III) The Class 17 locomotives were built as Class S-10.1 for the Prussian State Railways between 1910 and 1916. A total of 254 were made, and were taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1920. They were built as express locomotives for hauling fast freight and passenger trains. They were capable of a speed of 110 km/hour. After 1945, the Deutsche Bundesbahn took some of the locomotives, and others saw service on the East German Deutsche Reichsbahn as DR Class 17.10-11. Some of these locomotives were retired in 1948, but there were variations of this locomotive, and last of the DR Class 17 locomotives was retired in 1964. This Roco model of a Deutsche Reichsbahn Class 17 locomotive is from the period between the 1920s and 1964, and fits into Eras I, II and III. It is used and is in fair condition, in its original box. The locomotive does not have an NEM standard coupler pocket on its tender, and it has a North American-style KD coupler. As the photos show, one buffer on the tender is broken off and paint flaking off on some wheels. There are small wires sticking out of both the tender and the locomotive above the coupling between the two. The wires appear to have been cut. Their purpose is not known.
