Shokoku Taki Meguri - A Journey to Waterfalls of Various Provinces is one of Hokusai's best-known print series, perhaps second in recognition to his Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. Many of the series' images, such as Waterfall at Ono on the Kisokaido , reveal why Hokusai's art had such a profound influence on French Impressionism and the subsequent stylistic ventures toward abstraction in Western art. Images included: Waterfall at Aoigaoka in Edo, Yoro Waterfall in Mino Province, Waterfall at Ono on the Kisokaido Highway, and Amida Waterfall on the Kisokaido Road. All images are reproduced in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. and Pomegranate Communications.
