HOn3 Brass Baldwin 4-4-0 'American'. Produced in Japan 1970's. Needs Work. Sold AS-IS..This 19th century narrow gauge 'Wagon-top boiler' "American" is typical of such locos used all over north America from the 1880's to the turn of the 20th century. Similar steamers were built by Baldwin, Cook, Porter and others.I do not know who manufactured or who imported this brass model. No original box is included. The model features the characteristic sturdy assembly of Japanese imports of the 1960's and 1970's. This is a well-built narrow gauge 4-4-0, with a distinctive 'wagon-top' boiler profile. It does NOT resemble the FED/NWSL 'Spartan' series models. The model is offered AS-IS. It has no smoke stack or headlight detail. (These items are available separately from manufacturers like PSC and Cal-Scale). The model is tender-powered, by a small open-frame motor. This does NOT appear to be the original motor. In addition it appears some upgrades have been made to the electrical pick-up and connection between motor and cab. The drivers are clean and show no sign of previous use.Attention scratch-builders and kit-bashers...here's your chance to acquire a classic narrow-gauge 4-4-0, ready to be fine-tuned and completed.
