I visit the Hopi reservation approx. every 6 weeks to trade with and buy from the Hopi craftsmen. Mostly on First Mesa, Tewa Village, and Polacca. All of the Kachinas I list are genuine Hopi and are traded for or bought from the craftsmen. Cottonwood sculpture style Poli Mana/Poli Taka is approx. 7" tall. This is a very beautiful carving. The painting is especially beautiful. The hair, necklaces, cloak, and kilts are all carved and painted. The Poli Taka is carved near the base with one wing sticking out. Altons "signature" turquoise, cloud, and sun symbols are carved around the base which is approx. 4 1/2" x 6" and has a pond on its top. The kachina is signed. Poli Mana is also known as Butterfly Kachina, Butterfly Girl, and Butterfly Maiden. Poli Taka is also known as Butterfly Man. They appear in Butterfly Kachina Dances. Multiple Kachinas purchased on the same date ship worldwide for $8.00 each additional, including insurance.
