The Prickly Pear Cactus or Yung'a Cactus kachina appears in the Soyohim Mixed dances. He is usually accompanied by his sister the Yung'a Mana kachina. The Yung'a Mana kachina carries a basket filled with prickly pear pads and a pair of wooden tongs to handle the prickly. This kachina most likely was a gift to a Hopi girl from the kachinas at one of the dances, it has a string around its neck for hanging. I got this kachina from my Dad who uses to do allot of trading with the Hopi's, this kachina is in very good condition my Dad got this in mid 1980's and never un wrapped them until I did a few days ago.
