This is a rare old folk statue of Hua Tuo(110-207AD), the physician that lived during the Han dynasty. He is seen barefooted on a herbs collecting trip and holding a herbal pill.
The well known physician that performs the world first surgery with anesthetic. This knowledge was used about 1600 later by the European. One of his famous treatment was to scraped the poison off the affected flesh of Guan Yu using anesthetic. Unfortunately he was put to death by Cao Cao for suggesting to open up his skull for to remove a tumour. In condition as seen, this folk statue of mixed material measures approx. 10" in height.
